Make sure to do plenty of research before choosing your SSD, as a lot of people get ripped off particularly on Amazon, with used drives and defective merchandise. I have three, which I use to backup various personal projects and one for gaming. Personally I've used Kingston's SATA SSD's since 2018 for backing up my stuff, and so far so good. Use Disk Utility app to partition the SSD into two drives name them (1) Backup Drive and (2) Other Data (for example) Consider partitioning the Backup Drive as 512GB in size, despite your internal storage being only 256GB in size Buy an app called Carbon Copy Cloner. ![]()
